According to Western military sources, Putin was personally involved in the war in Ukraine and was making tactical decisions “at the rank of Colonel or Brigadier General”.
They said that Putin was helping to determine the movement of Donbas’ forces. Last week, Russian troops lost a lot of money when they tried to cross a river in eastern Ukraine.
The source adds that Putin is still working closely with the Supreme Russian Commander, General Valery Grasimov, despite the Ukrainian side's claim last week that Grassimov had been suspended.
“We believe that the level of tactical decision-making in which Putin and Glasimov are involved is what we usually expect the colonel or the Brigadier General to be involved”, said the military sources mentioned above.
The Russian army has not made a major breakthrough in Donbas since the second-class military operation began in late April. They launched a month-long offensive there, but several attempts to encircle the small army failed.
The Western media, such as the Times, the Guardians, have reported on this news. It is reported that although Putin’s involvement in the war was assessed on the basis of information received by the military, there is no further detail to support its accuracy.
As of the date of submission, the Russian side had not responded.
