China discovers new zoonotic virus 'Langya'

2022-08-08: [Chinese Article Link]  The PaperSmart reporter, Liu Dung. In recent days, the global authoritative medical journal New England Medicine (NEJM) published a communication article in collaboration between Chinese and Singaporean scientists stating that a new animal-origin Hennipa virus (henipavirus) was found in Shandong and Henan, China. In this study, Prof. Liu, Professor Clan, Professor Wang Linfa, Faculty of Medicine, Duke-Singapore National University, and other scholars pointed out that a newly discovered Hennipa virus, which may come from animals, is associated with a number of cases of fever. The symptoms of these infections include fever, fatigue, coughing, anorexia, muscle pain, nausea, etc. “The virus is the same as the Nipa virus, which so far has not been fatal or very serious, so it can be said that (we) should be vigilant, not panic, about this new virus. But we need to be careful, because there are more similar viruses in nature, and the situation may not be the same if a different virus hits humans.” One of these researchers, Professor Wang Linfa of the National University of Singapore Medical School, said to The Paper (www.thepaper.cn) on 8th. LayV natural host or thugs. One of the major emerging causes of human and animal disease in the Asia-Pacific region is the Hennipa virus, which is known to contain two types of virus that can be infected with humans: Hendra virus, HeV, and Nipa virus. Both of these viruses are natural hosts of fruit porridges, both of which cause serious diseases in animals and humans, and are classified as biosafety level four viruses, with death rates ranging from 40 to 75 per cent. However, scientists have also found other relevant Hennipa viruses in bats, rodents, and thugs (a rat mammal). In the above-mentioned study, scientists discovered a new Hennipa virus in a patient’s swab sample, named LayV, during a sentinel surveillance of fever patients with recent animal exposure in eastern China through high flux sequences and viruses. The genome of LayV, which consists of 18402 nucleic acids, has the same genomics organization as other Hennipa viruses, and in the system growth tree, the strain was found to be a new toxic strain, the most relevant in the evolutionary relationship to the Hennipa virus that was previously found in the Yunnanmue River. A further survey found that 35 cases of acute LayV infection were found in Shandong and Henan, China, 26 of which affected only LayV (other pathogens were not detected). The clinical symptoms in these 26 cases were fever (100%), fatigue (54%), cough (50%), anorexia (50%), muscle pain (46%), nausea (38%), headaches (35%), vomiting (35%), accompanied by loss of blood platelets (35%), reduction of white cells (54%), loss of liver function (35%) and damage to kidney function (8%). In serosynthesis studies of livestock, goats (3/168 [2%]) and dogs (4/79 [5%]) were found to be seropositive, and RNA at LayV (71/262 [27] was found to be the natural host of LayV among the 25 small wild mammals studied. According to the researcher, although this study does not comply with the Koch hypothesis (a law to establish a causal link between disease and micro-organisms), the following findings from acute LayV infections suggest that LayV is the cause of the fever among these patients: 26 out of 35 acute LayV infections (74 per cent) were detected only at LayV; 86 per cent of the epidemiology IgG drops during the recovery period were found to be four times the acute serum; viral haemorrhage was associated with acute LayV infections; and the viral load of pneumonia patients was higher than that of non-pulmonary patients (average [SD] log10, capies/mL, 7.64/0.98 vs. 4.52-1.113). We're not sure if LayV is a messenger. Although previous reports indicated that Hennipa virus could be transmitted interpersonally, researchers noted that no cases were detected and that the LayV monochrome had a marked concentration in space or time. There is no history of close contact and co-exploitation between the different patients, suggesting that people’s infections may be spreading. No trace of nine cases of close contact with 15 family members found that LayV’s close contact was spreading, but researchers also acknowledged that, due to the small number of samples, it was not possible to determine the inter-personal transmission status of LayV, and that possible cross-responses between LayV and the Hennipa virus found in the Meer River should be assessed in order to improve serobic detection methods. Finally, researchers note that the finding that LayV, a newly discovered Hennipa virus that may come from animals, is associated with human fever is worth further study in order to gain a better understanding of related human diseases. In the case of the Hennipa virus, the World Health Organization (WHO) indicated that in the event of a suspected case, quarantine should be implemented as soon as possible and infection control measures should be put in place to inform the public health authorities immediately. When humans are infected with the Hendra virus, which belongs to the Hennipa virus, the light person can manifest himself as a mild flu disease, and the heavy person as a fatal respiratory or neurological disease. Human mortality from the Hendra virus is between 50 and 75 per cent, and, fortunately, it is not very contagious. When humans are infected with the Nipa virus, which belongs to the Hennipa virus, the light person can manifest itself as an insymptomatic infection, and the heavy person can experience acute respiratory syndrome and fatal encephalitis. In 1998, the Nipa virus was prevalent among Malaysian pigs and resulted in 265 infections, of which 105 died, a story that was later transformed into the film " Infectious Diseases ", which is widely known. There are currently no vaccines and therapeutic drugs for the Hennipa virus; the only cure is supportive care to control complications. According to estimates by the World Health Organization, the known incidence of two human-infectible Hennipa viruses (Hendra and Nipa) is between 40 and 75 per cent, well above the Covid-19 virus. == sync, corrected by elderman == @elder_man == sync, corrected by elderman == @elder_man
