On 6 August, the United States Secretary of State visited the Philippines and met with Philippine President Marcos Jr. Blinken stressed that the alliance between the Philippines and the United States was “strong” and could continue to develop.

Agence France Presse (AFP) reported on 6 August that Blinken was the highest United States official who had visited the Philippines since the assumption of office by Little Marcos on 30 June this year.
“The alliance is strong, and I believe it can grow stronger.” Blinken said in his meeting with Little Marcos. Little Marcos also praised the “special relationship” between Physics.
It was also reported by Reuters on 6 that the Philippine Foreign Minister, Enrique Manalo, had not had a face-to-face meeting with Blinken because of his infection with Covid-19. At the online meeting, Manalo praised the United States as a “important ally, partner and friend” of the Philippines, while emphasizing to Blinken that the situation in the Taiwan Strait needed to remain calm because Taiwan was very close to the Philippines. “The Philippines will, of course, continue to expect the great Powers to help calm the situation and maintain peace. We cannot afford any further escalation of tension in the region.” Manalo said.
Manalo also indicated that Little Marcos had been invited to the White House of the United States, but that a specific date had not yet been set.
