The Ministry of Defense news spokesman, Wu Xian, responded to questions from the Chinese media about the cancellation of three exchanges between the Chinese and United States armies and about the American media.
Q: In recent days, China’s policy has announced eight counter-measures against Palosi, including three measures to eliminate China’s military dealings with the US and China. As reported in the United States press, Chinese military leaders have been called on several occasions in recent days by high-ranking United States military officials, but have been rejected by China.
The current tense situation in the Taiwan Strait is entirely a provocation and a result of which the United States must assume full responsibility and serious consequences. China has taken a firm stand on such issues as relations between the two armies of China and the United States, the Taiwan issue, and so forth, in particular with regard to the repeated visits of the President of the United States Congress, Pelosi, while the United States has spoken out in one way or another, encouraging support for the visit, and deliberately creating tension in the Taiwan Strait. China has announced eight counter-measures in response to the provocative acts of the United States side, including the cancellation of calls by the leaders of the two United States military zones, the cancellation of meetings between the Chinese and United States Ministries of Defence and the cancellation of meetings of the China-United States Consultative Mechanism on Military Security at Sea. The bottom line cannot be broken, and communication requires good faith. The US, on the one hand, is responsible for creating a crisis and, on the other hand, claims to control it, to find excuses for its wrong words, actions, and provocations, to cover it up, and even to make out-of-the-books, to confuse and to blame it, and we firmly reject it.
