The United States and Indonesia launched a two-week joint military exercise on 1 August, citing Agence France-Presse reports from the Singapore Joint Morning News website.
Washington claims that this annual military exercise, code-named “Galuda Shield,” is designed to advance regional cooperation. Although this military performance is much larger than in previous years, the US emphasises that it “does not target any country.”
According to reports, this year’s “Galuda Shield” military exercise will take place near Sumatra and the Rione Islands in Singapore and Malaysia. In addition to at least 4,000 United States and Indonesian military personnel, Australia and Singapore will also participate, and Japan will participate for the first time.
