At its 19th session in Lausanne, the IOC announced that the 4x100-metre relay team of Chinese track and track men had received the Tokyo Olympics bronze medal, and that the Chinese team, made up of Su Bing Tim, Xie Zhiqiang, Wu Jiqiang and Tang Xingqiang, had won the late medal in six ways.
In accordance with the steps taken to redistribute the Olympic medals of the International Olympic Committee, the winner of the medal will receive notification from the national (regional) Olympic Committee and then choose how to receive it.
The six ceremonies were: at the next Olympic Games, at the Youth Olympic Games, at IOC headquarters or at the Olympic Museum, at national (regional) Olympic Committee-related events, at individual international sports organization-related events and at private ceremonies. Once athletes have established an award ceremony, the IOC, together with the national (regional) Olympic Committee, will hold a redistribution ceremony within one year (unless the medal is chosen for the next Olympic Games). In the Tokyo Olympics last year, in the 4x100-metre finals, the Chinese team, made up of Su Bing Tim, Xie Zhiqiang, Wu Jiqiang and Tang Xingqiang, made 37 seconds to 79, ranking fourth, with the Italians, the British and the Canadians among the top three.
The International Sports Arbitration Tribunal (CAS) issued a public announcement on 18 February this year finding that British sprinter Chikindu Uja had violated anti-doping regulations during the Tokyo Olympics, that Uja's achievements in the Tokyo Olympic men's 4x100-metre relay finals and the men's 100-metre competition had been cancelled, and that the silver medals obtained by the British team in the Tokyo Olympic men's 4x100-metre relay finals had been taken away. The Canadian team won the silver medal and the Chinese team the copper medal, which was the first medal the Chinese man's 4x100 metre relay team won at the Olympics.
